I recently upgraded to MC 6.5.2 from MC 4.0.5 and I really like the upgrade, however as I am running 6.5 on a laptop (where screen space is an issue), I was wondering if there is a way to eliminate the tool headers at the top of every tool in MC now. In earlier versions there was a way to do this under the interface settings, but that seems to have disappeared in 6.5. Is there any way to change this now or any plan to address eliminating these headers in future updates? I really don't need a title bar that reads 'Audio Mixer' to tell me I'm looking at the audio mixer. Space is more critical on a laptop than redundancy.

To be honest we see less and less laptop users. EVne modern laptops struggle to offer the grunt the new multicore machines offer. We don;t use any systems with screen res of less than 1920x1080 and most have 2 such screens. There was a lot of demand from users to overhaul the UI and hence what we see today. The biggest loss has beent he superbin function. I've met and traied som many users who just don;t see the value of tabbed bins and can't understand why Avid dropped superbins.

The laptop I'm running on is an HP 64 bit Intel quad core i7 2.4 GHz with 16 GB of ram, a GeForce 630m graphics card with 2 GB video memory. It's got a 15.6' wide screeen display running at 1366x768 screen res. It's also running Windows 8 Pro 64. And it runs circles around my HP 64 bit Intel Core 2 Quad Core 2.8 GHz Desktop machine running with 8 GB of ram, a Qudro FX 1800 video card, Windows Vista 64 and two 1600x900 monitors. I actually prefer editing on the laptop when I can because it's just so much faster.
As noted in an earlier post, earlier versions of MC offered users the ability to toggle on or off features like tool headers (and Super bins, which I actually loathed but appreciated the abuility to disable them.) I think it would be worthwhile to put such user customization back into the program and let us users decide how best to interact with the software. Just my $.02.
