Western Illinois Women's Golf Heads To Indiana For Mac

The Central Michigan women's golf team will get a good look at its Mid-American Conference competition when it partakes Monday and Tuesday in the Cardinal Classic, hosted by Ball State. In addition to the Chippewas and the Cardinals, MAC members Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Ohio and Western Michigan are scheduled to be in the field. Just three MAC teams, Kent State, Toledo and Akron, will not be in the 16-team field.
The 36-hole, two-day tournament is scheduled for The Players Club Golf Course, which will play to par 72 over 6,164 yards, in Yorktown, Ind. It begins on Monday and concludes on Tuesday. It is the third tournament in as many weeks for CMU, which placed 15th at the Illinois State Redbird Invitational two weeks ago, and last week finished 16th at the Michigan State Mary Fossum Invitational. The eight-player Chippewa squad, comprised of six freshmen, one junior and one senior, is being led by Grace Labrecque and Arielle Roberts, who are averaging 81.6 and 81.8, respectively, per round.

Athens, Ohio—The Ohio women's golf team returns to the course for their second tournament of the season when they compete at the 2018 Cardinal Classic from Monday, Sept. 17 to Tuesday, Sept. The Cardinal Classic, hosted by Ball Sate, will be a two-day, 54-hole tournament and will take place on the 6,204-yard course at The Players Club in Yorktown, Ind.

This year's event will see 16 teams including Ball Sate, Bowling Green, Bradley, Central Michigan, Cleveland State, Dayton, Evansville, Illinois State, Indiana State, Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne, Southern Illinois, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, University of Indianapolis, Western Illinois, and Western Michigan with Indiana having individuals competing. The Bobcats are coming off of a sixth-place finish at the 2018 Redbird Invitational hosted by Illinois State. In the Redbird Invitational, senior led the way for the Bobcats finishing in a tie for ninth followed by senior who finished in 17th place. Competing for the Bobcats at this year's event are seniors Smiley (Dublin, Ohio), Hughes (Columbus, Ohio) and (Lancaster, Ohio), junior (Allison Park, Pa.) and freshman (Roswell, Ga.).
Last time Ohio competed in the Cardinal Classic was in the 2016-17 season where the Bobcats finished in a tie for ninth place in the tournament. In that showing, Ohio shot a 308 on the first round, a 301 in the second round, and a 305 in the third round, finishing with a total of 914 (+50). University of Indianapolis won the tournament last year. Live scoring will be available through. After the Cardinal Classic, the Bobcats will head to the 2018 Nittany Lion Invitational at University Park, Pennsylvania. The event will be hosted by Penn State.
