Hard Candy So Baked Bronzer In Tiki
I have been wanting to try the Hard Candy baked bronzer in the shade Tiki for a very long time. I'm not sure why its marketed as a bronzer because it is definitely a highlighter - but that's beside the point. I have heard a lot of people compare this shade to the Mac Cosmetics highlighter in the shade Soft and Gentle.
Now, I am unsure if it is a dupe for Mac's soft and gentle as I do not own that highlight and have not tried it side by side to the Hard Candy one. Moving on, this highlight is a beautiful champagne colour and is quite long lasting. With just one swatch of this highlight it's clear how pigmented this product is and can be sprayed with water or any makeup setting spray to intensify the colour even more. What is great about this highlight is that not only is it long lasting, but it is very affordable! I purchased mine during the holiday season when they released it in a miniature size for less than two dollars at Walmart!
But, you can get the full-size year 'round at Walmart for $10 which I think is a great price for a good quality drugstore highlighter! Never understood why the shade Tiki is called a bronzer, but it’s definitely a highlight. I do think it is buildable if you want it to be a little more blinding.
I definitely would recommend to others. It’s one of the best dupes I’ve found for & it’s super affordable too! This is one of the first highlighting products I discovered from the drugstore and I was obsessed. I used to use it everyday and had actually completely finished a pan of this and had to repurchase. Since highlighting has blown up, I’ve of course found so many highlights that I prefer over this but I do think it’s a great drugstore highlight and for sure an OG.
Can’t go wrong if you have a lighter complexion and are looking for an affordable highlighter.
Price:$ Size/ Amount: 12.5g or.44oz Can be found: Walmart/ Online Expiration: 24 months Repurchase?: Definitely Recommend?: Everyone. Overall does it make the cut?: With out a doubt on my team! My experience.
A few days ago I noticed I was missing one of my most used products. Ever since I came back from my trip to New York City I haven't been able to find my favorite highlighting products at the moment. I know I packed it safely and I remember unpacking it when I got home, but where could it be? Obviously, I wasn't looking hard enough because it was right on my bed and under my pillow! I was super relieved to have finally found it but sadly I guess the weight of my giant dome piece (head lol) cracked it in half!:(. Ironically categorized as a bronzer this product does wonders as a highlight. I use this product almost every single day.
It adds such a beautiful youthful highlight to the skin. It can be used dry and with a light hand for a very subtle natural glow. I began applying this with my ring finger to the tops of my cheeks, cupids bow, and occasionally down the bridge of my nose. Now I swirl my Mac 187 brush it and lightly dust it on those areas. On my cheeks I blend it into my blush and bronzer to achieve a natural healthy glow. This is the glow that makes you look young and rested (now who doesn't want that!) I knew this was the product for me when I went to work and one of my co workers stopped me and said 'Jessie you're glowing, you look so pretty!'
( And no smarties I'm not pregnant) It is a baked powder and for around six bucks the quality is unbelievable. The texture of the power is so silky smooth and it glides onto the skin effortlessly. The color is like a champagne with gold swirled and baked into it. There isn't any unflattering chunks of glitter, just beautiful magical shimmer. The kind that doesn't exaggerate large pores. It is best used as highlight for medium to deeper toned beauties.
But I think the ladies on the fairer side of the spectrum might be able to pull it off as both a highlighter and bronzer. It has got something for everyone I promise! Another way Tiki can be used is wet and with a little bit of a heavier application for a golden goddess look. This obviously isn't an everyday nor every season kind of look but nonetheless it sure is pretty. I recommend this type of application for the summer months when you have gotten your tan on and want to shimmer and shine in the sun.

You know that signature JLo glow. Now that's cute! I would also recommend using this type of application when going to a very dimly lit place such as a club. Your makeup always seems to get super toned down when at such places for some reason so, a little bit a heavier application can pass. By no means am I saying pack this stuff on like there's no tomorrow. Come on now ladies lets use our better judgement.
A little bit of this stuff goes a long way. And just like any other makeup too little will do nothing for you but too much can quickly take you from dance club to drag club. Lets try and find that happy middle ground.
Hey don't get me wrong if that's the look you are going for then by all means be my guest. I just want to stress that Tiki is some potent stuff. I have had my Tiki for a little under a year now. 11 months to be exact. And as you can tell I still have a ways to go.
Despite the recent mishap with it cracking I haven't had any trouble. I'm sure you noticed I need my makeup to withstand some harsh punishment. I am always dropping and misplacing it and I believe that through all of that my Tiki is definitely a trooper. Right now it is looking like a wounded warrior but for it not giving me any trouble in almost a year I really give it props. I am about at a half way point with it and I have about a year left before it expires. For sure a great little investment and I will be repurchasing as soon as this one runs out. I am really happy with the relationship I share with my Tiki.
How about you? What are some of your experience with this 'bronzer'/ highlight? Or is there something better out there? Let us know what you think! As any other well mannered person I believe a formal (or semi-formal) introduction is called for. Especially since this is the first time we are meeting I hope I leave a good and lasting impression on you! You can call me Jessie and I hope we can create a long lasting friendship.
If you will have me of course! I have made it my friendly duty to share with you all things beauty that I discover. This includes anything from makeup, to clothing, accessories, hair care, you name it babe.
